What MotionTyped and this website are built with, and what that means for you.

This website

  • Instrument Serif and DM Sans: SIL Open Font License 1.1, served from this site.
  • Sample videos and stills: rendered by MotionTyped from a storyboard for the fictional Acme Inbox.
  • No third-party scripts, trackers or stock imagery.

The self-hosted software

  • Remotion (rendering): Remotion License. Free for individuals and companies of up to three people; larger companies need a company licence to render.
  • Firecrawl (optional scraping, self-hosted): AGPL-3.0. Run it as a separate local service and do not expose it to others.
  • ffmpeg: GPL/LGPL, used as an external process; the Docker image installs Debian's package.
  • Playwright and Chromium: Apache-2.0, BSD and others.
  • sharp / libvips: Apache-2.0 / LGPL-3.0.
  • Hono, zod, React, the Anthropic SDK and the MCP SDK: MIT.
  • Bundled avatars, illustrations and gradients: generated, CC0.
  • Bundled music bed: a synthesized placeholder, not licensed for advertising. Supply your own licensed track.
