The brief
After reading your site, MotionTyped writes a short brief. It covers:
- Goal. One of: ad, launch, explainer, tutorial, sales or onboarding. Ad, launch and explainer are the goals we have certified. Tutorial, sales and onboarding are in beta.
- Audience and the one message a viewer should remember.
- Proof points, things it must show and things to avoid.
- Tone (confident, playful, calm, urgent, premium or technical), platform and length.
Whatever you wrote in the request wins. What you left out is inferred from your site, or defaults. The brief keeps track of which is which.
The quick questions
If an answer would change the film, you are asked. You get at most three questions. The page says One quick question or 3 quick questions. A brief with nothing worth asking goes straight on.
Each question has:
- two to four suggested answers to pick from,
- a line under it saying why the answer matters,
- a box, Or say it in your words, for your own answer (up to 400 characters). Your own words win over a picked option.
Press Continue to send your answers, or Skip, decide for me to let MotionTyped use its best guess for every question. You can answer some and leave the rest. Unanswered questions follow the inferred answer.
When it asks for screenshots
Some films show your real product screens. A tutorial or an onboarding film is one. If MotionTyped has no screens to show, it asks you for screenshots (PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to four) instead of inventing an interface. You can upload them right in the question.
Pick a concept
After the questions, MotionTyped drafts three concepts. Each is a different idea for the same film. A concept card shows:
- four rough stills from the idea,
- a title and a one-line pitch,
- what the idea means, and its length.
Press Use this concept on the one you like. Not sure? Press Surprise me and MotionTyped picks one for you.
The film is then built from that concept. You can edit every line afterwards. To see different concepts, start a new project.
The stills are rough. They show the idea, not the finished look. The real film is drawn after you pick.
